Wakhan Corridor
Haven from the Taliban, but also one of the most isolated places on earth. The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow strip of Afghani land wedged between Tajikistan, Pakistan and China. Referred to as the 'Roof of the World', it's home to approximately 10,000 nomads of which there is an estimated 1,200 Krygyz and remaining population are Wakhi. One must travel by foot or animal to visit the nomads - often taking several days of travel. In this part of the world, there are no cars, or schools, or hospitals. Life expectancy is low, and infant mortality high. However, it's also a place where people return back the essentials in life: family and nature.
